Improved Pawpaw Cultivars

American Paw Paw, Orchard Seed Variety Mix (Asimina Triloba)

NOTE: This product is no longer sold by American Seeds as of 2011. Please contact the Kentucky Division of Forestry for improved cultivar seedlings. Kentucky residents are given first priority.

Don't compare this fruit to the twangy-tasting, seedier, smaller-fruit coming from many of the wild pawpaw trees. These seeds are a mixture of "improved cultivars," meaning the parent trees were bred for better size and flavor along with less seeds. They will produce better trees than wild seeds, and some will have larger, tastier fruits than others. The texture is buttery-smooth like avacodo.

What is ?

*Note: Seedlings will show genetic variation compared to the parent trees.

Pawpaw cultivars come in two flavor groups. Cultivars with a cream-colored yellow flesh have a sweet and mild bannana-like tropical flavor. Cultivars with an orange flesh have a rich melon-like tropical flavor. The package has some of the orange-types and more of the cream-types.
