Extension Task-Images Within Images

This task is a creative activity which involves careful photographic work as well as the use of Photoshop. The process is fairly simple and involves following a series of steps, however the creative aspect of this task is the most important part. Anyone can create an image but we are after a "great image". Be as creative as possible or you will end up with a "boring" image with little artistic merit.

Follow these steps:.

This is an image created using four planned photos

    • 1. Base Photo – portrait holding an A4 white sheet of paper. Try to think out of the ordinary and consider such things as: different camera angles and positions.
    • 2. No. 2 - portrait holding an A4 white sheet of paper. (change position)
    • 3. No.3 - portrait holding am A4 white sheet of paper. (Alter position again)
    • 4. Portrait of head/face – close up

In Photoshop

  • 1. Open the “base photo”
  • 2. Open image 2 and (using the transform tool), resize (and rotate if need) the image to fit into the A4 page on the base photo. ( File>transform>scale or rotate.)
  • 3. Repeat the process for the remaining layers.
  • Print the completed image onto a sheet of A4 photo paper for framing as well as a proof sheet onto A4 photocopy paper to stick into your photographic display folder. Document the steps used and include some "contact prints" of the preliminary photos.
