Art Review will take place in the single sessions and will require students to look at a different image for each session. You need to download and open the corresponding Analysis document from the files below. Students are to use this Word Document to complete the analysis. This activity should take about half an hour, however if it is not completed in the single session students will need to complete it for homework. All students are expected to complete all analysis activities unless they are absent for that particular week.
Completed Analysis documents are to be displayed in your visual diary.
How to do Four stage analysis:
You should be aiming to write a paragraph on the "Description" and "Analysis of Composition" stages and at least a couple of sentences for the "Interpretation" and "Judgement" stages. It is better to say too much rather than too little.
Description - Describe the photograph. If you imagine you are describing it to someone that can't see it. Include cultural or period references if appropriate.
Analysis of Composition- How is the photo composed? Does it use the rule of thirds? Does it have a high or low view point? Is their strong use of the Elements of Design (Line, tone texture, etc)? Is their a main focal point? Does it use leading lines?
Interpretation - What do you think the purpose of the photo is? Is the photographer making a statement or is it to show beauty, strength, speed etc.
Judgement- What is your opinion of the photo? Explain what you like or dislike about it.
