The site wasn't fortunately to dirty. The previous Clean up and the efforts of some of the Friends members in picking rubbish when they have a chance, paid off.
None the less the the small spot of wildlife we have is a magnet for detritus and flytipping.
Proudly we stand in doing our civic duty!!
Any way in spite of the cold, rain and wind all had good fun. Thanks to Tenzin for his support and help.
The main satisfaction is to know that a lot of birds, insects, the fox and the flowers we'll be there to cheer us up during the good and bad weather and certainly during all the troubled times we all have to endure.
Life is hard enough and a a little joy from a finch song or the playfulness of fox cabs chasing each other or the colour and perfume of a wild flower goes along way.
Beside the cleaning also we done a little of maintenance on the site. In particular we add a little of slow release fertiliser on the newest addition on the Area. Our young Oak tree. Last year was hard for the sapling and we all know that the ground id hard and infertile. So all the help is welcome (during the summer Julian managed to water the sapling carrying it all the way to the Wild Life Area, lots of work!!).
So apart from the inclemency of the British weather we manage to have a little of discovery by looking at some of the little wonders of the area:
Here some Jew's ears (Auricularia auricula-judae) and some as yet unidentified slime-mould!!
So well done everyone.
