The Arabian Mare and Stallion, the Morgan Mare and Stallion and the Thoroughbred Mare were cast from 2 different molds, here referred to as mold 1 and 2.

'Arabian Mare Bay'
bay, dark variation
mold 1, no dot added yet >> 1975-1976
Like the mold 1 dapples above, this early bay still lacks the dot that was added not much later, right under the mold 1 copyright stamp. I don't own, but have seen 5011 dapple Arabian Mares that do already have the dot, so, at least on this mold, it can't have been added later than in 1976.
_______________
Although this gorgeous specimen is from the earlier years too, it is newer than the one above, since it already sports the dot.
Note: she looks shinier in the picture than she actually is.
_______________
Here's another gorgeous bay. This is a mold 2, which never had a dot, so this girl not carrying one doesn't say anything about her age.
_______________
This younger one is much lighter in colour.
_______________
There are slight visible differences in detail between the 2 molds, but because of factory flaws such as bend legs, both rough and chiseled seamlines, and by wear of the casting molds themselves, only differences in the copyright stamps are 100% reliable to tell them apart.

'Arabian Mare Bay'
with B-stamp >> 1979-1983
bay, light shaded variation
mold 1
_______________
This buckskin-like light bay was purchased along with 2 other G1's, sharing the same white ©1979 card and price sticker. Since they were bought somewhere along the 80's, but wear no B, these 3 should be from after the B-stamp era, '83-'88.

This one is certain to come from the Sears 1989 set, since I took him out of the box personally.

'Arabian Mare'
alabaster
old plastic >> 1989-1992
teary eyes >> 1989-1990
mold 2
5130 seems to be a continuation of 5017, about a year after it's retirement.
_______________
_______________
Since this 5130 is new plastic, it must be from 1992-1994.

This one is certain to come from the Sears 1992 set, since I took her out of the box personally.
_______________
It seems telling a Sears 92 Stablemate apart from a JCP 94 is best done by checking the eyes for glossing (94 only). The 94 Arabian Mare however, in genaral appears to be much darker than the 92 Arabian Mare.

Both previous Saddle Club gift sets were numbered 5650, and 5651 is the item number of the follow-up gift set, so it seems that they either ran out of the old boxes too soon or had some left-over horses to be cleared out.
