About...

This website is a show case of my personal pictures, made of my own Breyer Stablemates, unless stated differently. My purpose is to share details to observe and compare, specifically from the (oldest) G1 series, which has my main interest. And of course to showcase my ever growing collection!

Although I bought my first Stablemates (on black blister cards) as a child in the late seventies, I only started collecting seriously after my own kid had moved out, and nowadays I love to meticulously studie and compare all of their little details, trying to pinpoint an item's production year as close as possible, hence my preference for the oldies, of which every specimen is unique.

As a result, items here will be listed more or less chronologically, which isn't always the easiest way to find your way through, but the dropdown menu at the top can help to at least find the right pages.

I scan the internet on a daily basis to try and get my hands on any odd number to add to my herd, specifically the models that can come from different sets, which are the harder cases to tell apart, since often enough, the only actual difference is their number. But although in most cases one can only tell the proper id number if the item is still safely sealed in it's package, sometimes there truly are differences in details to give away the origin.

The factual information shared with the pictures here mostly comes from the original package and Breyer catalogs, where I always double check info on items. Quoted tekst like 'this' comes from the packaging and quoted tekst like [this] comes out of a catalog.

To obtain as much information as possible, I often download eBay pictures from both models and packaging, which I also regularly consult for comparising and extra descriptions and copyright years. These downloads always are strictly for my own use, never to be uploaded anywhere of course!

Having said that, my first stop for information still usually is this amazing website:

What would we be without this amazing model horse guide?

The inspiration for starting a website myself came from this lovely blog

Many Mini Hooves

where my fascination for the (lack of) copyright belly stamps on the G1's was born, since quite a few of them changed in between times on these older molds.

It was also where I learned about the five G1 twin molds, which spring from either of two different casting molds (Arabian Mare and Stallion, Morgan Mare and Stallion and the Thoroughbred Mare), which also reflects in their copyright stamps.

The different belly stamps of the Morgan Stallion throughout it's complete Breyer period.

Sadly enough Heather had to stop updating her blog because life asked more of her time and attention, and so also stopped our interesting conversations.

The credits for the basics on the belly stamps however go to Nancy Atkinson Young

who wrote about it in her book:

'Breyer Molds & Models: Horses, Riders, & Animals (4th ed.)

(Atglen, PA: Schiffer Publishing Ltd, 1997), 279'

The G2 series has 2 different stamps too. The first runs have ©1998 stamps, which are quite small and all look about the same on all models. These were replaced by the larger ©1999 stamps, which again are very similar on all G2 molds.

I'd like to note that the colours in pictures in general can be deceptive, and a few pictures here are really off-colour because I couldn't get it right, although I always do my best to get as close to the actual colour as possible. But well, I'm by no means a photographer, so that's how it is, and I hope to, one day, find the time to replace the worst of them.

I am well aware of the fact that part of my Stablemates are far from terms like LSQ , but it has never been my interest to show my models in such a way. Although it's always nice to get ones hands on a smooth model, as a true G1 fan, I personally still prefer any ragged little old G1 over a mint shiny new Gypsy Vanner or Connemara Mare.

Furthermore, I'm doing my utmost to stick to the facts and state my assumptions as such to keep the information as clean as possible.

The pictures used on this site are all made by me, from my own Stablemates, unless stated otherwise. You are never allowed to alter or upload these anywhere without my permission.

Due to multiple personal reasons, I have decided not to collect Stablemates newer than from 2020, so you will not find those here. I am still collecting older ones though!

Should you encounter any mistakes or if you have any relevant info to share, please let me know. You can find the addres on the contact page.

I have no connection with the Breyer-Reeves company, this site is sheer hobby.

You might be my biggest rival on eBay...

But happy collecting anyway! :-D
