Gearbox
There are two options for "bolt-on" gearboxes to make 20XE RWD. One is from Opel Omega B 2.0 Ecotecs engine (20XEV) and other is from Opel Omega A (20NE). First one uses hydraulic clutch other one has cable linkage. As Manta is originally using cable so natural choice is Omega A's gearbox (R-25). The bolts do fit 1:1 but there are five other issues:
- shaft reaching from gearbox to flywheel has smaller dimension than hole in flywheel (needs a bush)
- clutch bearing does not reach to clutch pressure plate (bush between fork and bearing is needed)
- prop shaft should be welded from two parts - mantas original with the one fitting to gearbox (should be balanced after welding)
- the tunnel for gearbox should be lifted at gearbox end about 3 cm. Also widened at front (hammer will do)
- the gearbox end mount needs an extension about 5cm (5mm sheet metal 10cm*10cm)
