To increase some operational capabilities, a 5-track staging yard was added during the summer of 2012 by extending the single staging track behind Coxton Yard out into the adjacent workshop. The staging tracks are on a shelf attached to the wall above a work bench.
Each of the 5 tracks is used to represent trains which operated into or out of Coxton Yard:
Track 1 is for the New York, Ontario & Western (O&W) train which came into Coxton Yard via the LV's Austin Branch which connected with the O&W's Sibley Branch.
Track 2 is the Lackawanna interchange. The DL&W's Kingston-Scranton turn off their Bloomsburg Branch stopped at interchange tracks at the eastern end of Coxton Yard.
Track 3 represents the LV's West Pittson Branch which served many industries between West Pittston and Kingston along the west side of the Susquehanna River.
Track 4 is for trains going to the LV's Austin Branch, primarily empty hopper cars going to the William A. Colliery.
Track 5 is for LV trains carrying "run of mine" coal being delivered to the Harry E. breaker on the West Pittston Branch for processing.
