Murad Moqbel (Ph.D., Texas A&M International University, 2012) is an associate professor of information systems and the founding director of the Master of Science in Business Analytics program at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

Prior to joining UTRGV, professor Moqbel worked as an assistant professor at the University of Oklahoma (2017–2018), where he taught health informatics and introductory MIS courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He also worked at the University of Kansas Medical Center from 2013 to 2017. He taught undergraduate and graduate courses in health information management and health informatics. He was also an assistant professor at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas, where he taught undergraduate and graduate computer information systems and security courses. Professor Moqbel taught at Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas, while working on his Ph.D. He also previously worked in the information technology support department for H&R Block in Kansas City, Missouri.

Professor Moqbel has a Ph.D. from Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas, in international business administration and management information systems. He graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor's in business administration and computer information systems, and he received an MBA with an information systems concentration from Emporia State University, Emporia, Kansas.

Professor Moqbel serves on the editorial boards of the International Journal of e-Collaboration and Information Processing & Management Journal. He was awarded the "best student paper" award at the Southwest Decision Science Conference 2012. He has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed articles. His work has appeared in many well-respected journals and conferences, such as Information & Management, IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication Journal,  Information Technology and People, AIS Transactions on Human-Computer Interaction, the Journal of Information Privacy and Security, the proceedings of the International Conference in Information Systems (ICIS), the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS), and the Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS). His research interests focus on the interaction between human behavior and information technologies, including social media, emerging technologies, health IT, information security and privacy, and international business.
