Would you like us to send you a reminder about the Open Studios weekend 2015?
Nestled among the trees in the Hills east of Perth there are quiet places where artists and craftspeople live. Here surrounded by nature there is space and views to inspire and create lovely works of art.
Every year artists from the Shire of Mundaring open their studios during the last weekend in October to share their work and environment with visitors. This is a rare opportunity to experience the lives of professional artists, gain insight into their work and methods. You can pass the time of day chatting with the artists in a relaxed atmosphere. Many of the works are available for sale, so you can buy direct before the work reaches the galleries.
The artists and craftspeople opening their studios are Brian Aylward, Greg Crowe, Jeremy Holton, Graeme Pages-Oliver, Neil Elliott, Willem Heyneker, Christine Hingston, Judy Kotai, Joanna Capelle, Rachel Gillam
Many of the artists open their studio/galleries throughout the year. Visit their web sites for details of opening times.
Also some the artist’s work can be seen and purchased at the Mundaring Arts Centre, which is located in the old post office building in the centre of Mundaring, 7190 Great Eastern Highway. Their web site is www.mundaringartscentre.com.au .
October is a great time to visit the Hills as the wildflowers are in full bloom and the weather’s usually fine. Schedule a visit to the artist studios of Mundaring in your diary now. The artists would love to meet you and share their work with you.
We expect you will want to eat while you are here so here is a list of places to wine and dine
