Tuesday July 19, 2011 - Gypsy Lake to Grey Cliff

Length: 125 miles

Gas: White Sulphur Springs (136 miles from Wolf Creek), Manhattan (90 miles from White Sulpur Springs)

The route (GLG wpts, Red on the map, 125 miles begins at Gypsy Lake and goes to White Sulphur Springs for gas. From White Sulphur Springs, the route winds along the foothills back to Ringling and leaves Ringling in a SW direction along 16 Mile Road to Maudlow. From Maulow riders will travel mostly South to Manhatten where gas is available and finally to Grey Cliff Campground.

Things to See and Do:

• • White Sulphur Springs named after hot springs rumored to have curative powers. Check out the Hot Springs Motel and, more info here.

  • Ringling was founded by John Ringling of the Ringling Brothers Circus.

  • Maudlow and surrounding area.

  • Madison Buffalo Jump State Park

Camping, Related:

• • There are many undeveloped camping alternatives along the Madison River beteween the Grey Cliff campground and Norris Hot Springs.

  • Motels are available to the East of Manhattan in Belgrade and to the West in Three Forks.

  • There is also a very nice KOA in Three Forks.
