At 238 miles, the route for this day (DB wpts, 238 miles) is the longest but also has much of the easiest riding. The route begins in Darby and follows dirt road paralling Hwy 93 North through the countryside, crossing I-90 North of Missoula before heading into the Lolo National Forest. Dropping out of the mountains near Dixon, and crossing Hwy 200 into the "hills" again, the route visits the National Bison Range before descending to follow the Jocko River past several lakes through the Flathead Indian Reservation. Continuing SE, the route rejoins the Lolo National Forest before intersecting Hwy 83 at Seeley Lake and then follows the Cottonwood Lakes Road before turning South near the Monture Creek Campground a short distance to Brown's Lake Campground.
Things to See and Do:
Anybody looking to have a good steak at a cool place? Then you must try out Lindey's prime steak house in Seeley Lake. Very cool diner, do not be fooled by the small menu. The sides are endless, all you can eat, and ask for the "finger-licken" sauce, well kept seceret I am sharing just once. (jjmyzrider)
If you are not in the mood for a steak, Ovando has a bar on hwy 200. It is called Trixi's, they have burgers and traditional diner foods. I have not ate here, so can not speek on the food. The bar is named for a performer, she was a trick rider and roper in the 50's and purchased the bar in the 50's. (jjmyzrider)
