Diminished Chord in C is where the third and the fifth note are both lowered half a step to Eb and Gb.
Augmented Chord in C is where the fifth note is raised a half step to G#.
Canon - A canon is like a round where a melody is repeated by other parts starting at different times. Here is an example of Pachabel's Canon
Register - is the range of a notes as either high or low. Instruments have limited ranges because of how they are made.
Atonal - Not written in any key or tonal centre.
When using this scale to create triads, they become augmented and given a particular tone colour that we hear in compositions like Prelude of a Faun by Debussy.
Whole Tone Scale - where each note is a tone apart.

Raga - colours, flavours -their scales or modes are based on how its played and the use of microtones in the pitch of their instruments. A microtone is an interval smaller than a semitone.
Arabic Scales - is a double harmonic scale which sounds like a scale with' gaps' in it.

Cycle of Fifths - is a harmonic progression which is based on chords a fifth apart.
Sequence - is when a melody or motif is repeated higher or lower in pitch. The main theme of Beethoven's No 5 Symphony is a great example of this:

Improvisation - music that is created without preparation.
Counter melody - is a secondary melody that plays at the same time as a main melody.
Call & Response - is when the 1st phrase of a melody is repeated as a direct response by another instrument or singer..
