Please help us contribute to our community!

Dear Class and Parents,

Thank you in advance for sending us your pop can tabs! As a class, we collect them as a charitable effort to improve our community. We save them for the Ronald McDonald House at 622 West Deming Place, which is just around the corner from Children’s Memorial Hospital in Lincoln Park.

As you may already know, the Ronald McDonald House accommodates families who would not otherwise be able to afford to stay by their child’s side during hospital stays for treatment and invasive medical procedures. Many children afflicted with serious medical conditions must be flown to hospitals far from home to receive specialized medical care. Their medical bills are usually already astronomical, and some procedures are not covered by insurance. More often than not, parents cannot afford to stay by their child’s side during the entire hospital stay, as hotels and motels are too expensive. The Ronald McDonald House alleviates those costs by offering extremely low cost and sometimes free accommodations. Because families going through similar crises stay there together, they support one another during their difficult times.

To help these families, we save and turn in our pop can tabs. Since many of us drink beverages from aluminum cans, all we have to do is pull and save the tab. It doesn’t cost anything extra, and it gets recycled to pay for families who desperately need someplace friendly and supportive to stay. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at 773.534.5840 or the Ronald McDonald House at 773.348.5322.

My sincerest thanks again to all of you for sending us your pop can tabs!
