Science Vocabulary Builder:
Week 1 - The root words for the week are the Latin numbers, one through ten, from Uno to Decem, these Latin words have influenced our words in profound ways. One can easily see the influence in both our calendar and language, for example, October, "Octomom," November, December. The etymological definitions found by my students were interesting and hard to pronounce. One caught my attention: sexagenarian, a person who is in their sixties. That's me!
Week 2 - variable - Used in Science and Mathematics, it is a factor in an experiment that will change the outcome.
Week 3 - qualitative - This type of data is information that can best be described in words or diagrams and pictures such as the description of a situation or an event, observed behavior, direct quotations, maps, etcetera.
Week 4 - (scientific) inquiry - the seeking of information by asking questions; a search for truth, information, or knowledge.
