Most cell phones, games, and websites are not intended for children to use independently (no matter what your child says). Although it is inevitable that your child will use technology, you can still set boundaries. Here are some tips to help supervise your children and their digital activities:

• Know all passwords and check the apps they use. Children's privacy is not more important than their safety!
• Understand the dangers of the apps your child uses. Check the App Store Parent's Guide for detailed information on popular apps!
• Know what's age appropriate - most apps state in their Terms & Agreements that users must be 13 years of age. Some require users to be 16 or even 18 years old.
• Set a time limit...and mean it! Experts recommend no more than 2 hours of screen time a day. However, any limit is better than no limit.
• Keep the phone/tablet/computer out of the bedroom at night. Protect your child's sleep!
• Create a contract with child regarding their digital uses.
• Do not be afraid to take technology away!
