All About Your Teacher:
My name is Ms. Cunningham, and I have been a teacher for 24 years. I first started as an ELD (English Language Development) teacher for three years, at Muir Elementary. Then, I was a teacher in a 2/3 combo class for a year, and afterwards, a third grade teacher for eight years. After moving to Stocklmeir Elementary, I taught fourth grade for two years, but realized I love third grade. This is my 14th year teaching third grade at Stocklmeir, and I'm loving every minute.
When I'm not at school, I spend most of the time with my family. I am an avid hiker and enjoy exploring the Bay Area. I have two children, who are really adults, now. My daughter is a lawyer who lives in Lake Tahoe. My son has a degree in computer programming and is looking for a job.
I'm so excited to be teaching third grade. I look forward to the new students and experiences we will share throughout the school year. I truly believe children will show their best and rise to the occasion, if taught with patience and clarity. I do believe in Back to Basics, somewhat. There are certain skills that just have to be memorized. At the same time, I am project based. I love asking a child what his or her passion is in life. I want to help students discover their passions, learn how to set goals, and pursue their passions. Deep learning is driven by passion, not rote memorization. So, "What's your passion?"
