Week 8-9: Animals from Around the World
The theme for this weeks lessons is drawing animals from around the world. Play the videos and then open the presentation for the remainder of class. The presentation has information, directions and reference images. Students will work on 12 x 18 white paper and should draw big with pencil first. Once they are happy with their drawing they should write their name. They may trace their drawing in sharpie when they are done. They should not color in anything with the sharpie (except eyes of animals). Please collect these so they can color them the next week. On week 9 tell the students if they need to finish drawing or tracing in sharpie they should do this first. Then refer to the craftsmanship poster on the board and remind them to aim for a level 3 or 4 and to take their time when coloring. If you want to give them the option of using watercolor palettes or tempera cakes you can. They should be able to get their paint, water cup and brushes. If not they can use crayons, markers or colored pencils. They should color the entire paper. If they want to cut anything out and glue it to their paper they may use the scrap bins.
