This article is about the older man, Maurice Crawley who was arrested and detained over the summer. It caused quite an uproar in parts of the community, and there was even a Black Lives Matter protest about it. He's part of the OG's Against Violence group, and is now suing the Syracuse Police department for the way he was treated while being arrested. There is a video on attached to the article that is a recording of the event, as well.
This article is about how a sewage pipe broke and leaked 7 million gallons of sewage into Onondaga Lake--a lake that has been under treatment for some time now (treatment meaning, they have been working on getting rid of the pollution in the lake in order to make it clean again).

DIN: In your writer's notebooks, please do the following:
1. Vote on Mrs. Benny reading a book out loud each day for fifteen to twenty minutes or selecting an independent reading book to read (just write yes or no and explain your reasoning). You will have a short writing assignment after both options.
2. Goal Setting: What will you accomplish in class this week? Why is this important to you? Explain.
Next, continue working on Odyssey Ware. Remember to use your notebooks as a resource for an extra grade. Take notes! Write down important information, new vocabulary words, questions, etc.

Just as a friendly reminder, Odyssey Ware is a requirement when you attend EPIC at the Johnson Center. We can see your daily activity online and how much time was spent each time you logged on. Good luck and do your best!
2. After you've spent at least 45 minutes, on Odyssey Ware, we will go back to the classroom for a whole group activity.
