TEXTBOOKS: California Geometry, Prentice Hall, Trigonometry 6th edition, Addison-Wesley
GRADES: Grades are calculated by approximately; tests and quizzes 65%, homework 20%, final exam 15%. Grades are available on Parent Portal.
A=90-100, B=80-89, C=70-79, D=60-69, F=below 60
MATERIALS : 3-ring binder with lots of paper, pen/pencil, graph paper, scientific calculator or graphing calculator, textbook.
THE COURSE: This math class will cover the 22 California geometry standards, 14 California trigonometry standards, as well as algebraic topics that will prepare the student for continued studies in math. The course will consist of class work, daily homework, projects, quizzes, and tests. All students will be issued two textbooks, which become the student’s responsibility. I will have some textbooks to use in class, but you could also bring your own book.
HOMEWORK: Homework will be given almost daily. The homework assigned is given to reinforce the concepts that we are currently studying and to also review topics that we have studied in the past. There will usually be time in class to begin the homework but what is not finished will be due the next day. . For a list of the homework refer to my webpage Late homework will be accepted within the week for partial credit. I would periodically rather have a completed late assignment rather than an incomplete on-time assignment. Homework should be handed in with the student’s name and period as well as the page number from the textbook.

ATTENDANCE: Attendance is important in order to succeed in this class. If a student is absent it is that students responsibility to ask the teacher, or another student to find out what was missed and to promptly make up the work and/or test.
CITIZENSHIP: Citizenship is how each student acts in the classroom. This does not affect academic grades. Each student may change their citizenship grade by his or her own actions in the classroom.
TARDY POLICY: 1st – 2nd Offense – In-class teacher consequences
3rd Offense - Teacher Contacts Parent
4th Offense - Teacher refers student to the alpha Assistant Principal
