Badging Framework

PEDAGOGICAL OVERVIEW

The different badge level challenges will be based on the PAGER Model developed by two Texas educators, Dr. Tony Tipton & Daniel Rich, along with other well-known approaches to learning (Ex. Bloom’s, DOK, 4C’s). The goal of PAGER is to provide a user-friendly plan that guides administrators and teachers towards student-centered strategies with or without technology. Our desire is to also assist you in moving away from just using technology as a way of substituting or augmenting lessons, to using it to transform and equip learners to become better collaborators, communicators, creators, and critical thinkers.

Teachers need to be able to both create tasks that not only target lower to higher-order cognitive skills (Bloom’s Taxonomy & Webb’s DOK), but also design tasks that have a significant impact on student outcomes (4Cs). The PAGER model will help inform effective instruction and instructional planning. It will help not only with the content of learning, but assist students in becoming self-directed lifelong learners.
