This page is broken into two short sections. First, get a feel for what immigration is (and is not) and learn about the "Push" and "Pull" factors associated with immigration. Next, learn about the different "waves" of immigration throughout US history.
As you go through this material, please take notes using the worksheet from class (it can also be downloaded here).
The United States has long been considered a "nation of immigrants." Our history of immigration can be described through a discussion of major "waves" or patterns, with large groups of people have come due to various push factors (from their nations of origin) and pull factors (observed in the United States). As you watch, focus on these waves found between 1:38-7:50. Remember to fill out this information in your notes!
