SERVICE IN LEARDERSHIP ROLES

·       Technical Committee Chair, ASME Manufacturing Engineering Division (MED), 2026-2028

• Elected as a chair for the ASME MED “Advanced Materials Manufacturing (AMM)” Technical Committee (TC) of ASME MED for 2 years

• Worked with ASME MED Executive Committee, ASME MSEC Program Chairs to select and organize symposiums under the AMM TC

• Organize all the sessions under each symposium, review papers, make decisions etc.

• Organize invited or keynote speaker and/or TC review paper 

·       Chair, NSF Sponsored Early Career Forum, ASME MSEC, 2026

• Worked with ASME MED Executive Committee, ASME MSEC Program Chairs and ASME MSEC-SME NAMRC Hosts to arrange the NSF Sponsored Early Career Forum for graduate and undergraduate students, Postdocs, and Early Career Engineers

• Arranged Panel and Round Table discussion sessions to engage early career researchers and answer their questions related to career tracks in Industry, Academia, and National Labs.

·       ElevateME Chair, ASME IMECE, 2025

• Organize events at the IMECE for the professional development of early career engineers and researchers.

• Worked with organizers of other similar events to bring all the professional developments events and workshops, such as ‘Early Career Forum’, ‘Women in ME’, ‘Industry Forum’ etc. under the umbrella of Elevate ME program.

• Chaired searches for two positions “Assistant/Associate Lecturer’ and/or “Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor’ in the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Department, Miami University 

·       Graduate Program Director, Mechanical Engineering, Jan 2020 - July 2023

• Started the first ever “MME Graduate Research Symposium, Spring 2021”

• Received “University Assessment Award”, 2021 for significant contribution to the assessment of Mechanical Engineering Graduate Program

• Prepared and submitted Graduate Program Assessment report, Dec 2020

• Developed and launched “Graduate Student Handbook” with Dr. Kumar Singh and Dr. Mark Sidebottom, Fall 2020

• Developed “Writing Guides for MME” with Dr. Mark Sidebottom that includes guidelines for proposal writing, thesis writing, design/project report writing, and research paper writing, Fall 2020 (I wrote 2 out of 4 guides)

• Prepared Academic Program Evaluation, Improvement & Prioritization (APEIP) report for the MS in Mechanical Engineering program, Fall 2020

• Introduced monthly topic organizers meetings to connect with all topic chairs

• Overseeing the abstract submission and reviewing process for papers 

• Inviting and coordinating plenary speakers, reviewers, and overseeing reviewing process, finished reviewing on time

• Recommending final accept/reject decisions for papers in the track

• Participated in development of strategic initiatives to grow the track 2 in IMECE 

·       Expert Educator Team (EET) member, Lightweight Innovations for Tomorrow (LIFT) manufacturing institute, the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU), and the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS), 2017-2019

• The EET developed four reports on the future directions of Advanced Manufacturing education and curriculum in the US

• identified current gaps in the manufacturing curriculum, 

• focused on the importance of up-to-date curriculum and hands-on learning experiences in manufacturing education, 

• proposed core competencies students need to develop both in 2-year community college degrees and 4-year engineering programs

• Served as the search committee chair for instructor position in the area of Advanced Manufacturing at WKU, 2015
