Covid 19 Diaper Drive, Happy 19th Birthday Moyra!

We are at it again! After sponsoring the diaper drive in 2019, we had several people reach out to us to show appreciation and express the ongoing need in our community. To assist in this need we will be collecting diapers as part of our Rock Around the Block event. We will be collecting diapers on September 25the from 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. at Franklin City Court Parking Lot (1 Caisson Drive, Franklin). Please consider joining us for Rock Around the Block, but you do not have to participate in order to make a diaper donation. win! All diapers will be donated to Johnson County Food Pantry to be distributed to families in need.

The Moyra McCain Memorial Foundation is proud to announce that our most recent community service project, The Covid 19 Diaper Drive, was a huge success. The Diaper Drive allowed us to provide over 38,000 diapers to families in need throughout our community. These diapers were distributed through partnerships with community service organizations such as Better Together, Interchurch Food Pantry, local School districts, Kic-It, The Refuge, Together Johnson County, and a group of Moyra's closest friends and family members who happily distributed diapers weekly during at various community events. Our remaining diapers have been transitioned to the Interchurch Food Pantry. If you are in need of diaper assistance, please contact the Interchurch Food Pantry of Johnson County!

In honor of Moyra's 19th Birthday the Moyra McCain Memorial Foundation has Partnered with Better Together to collect and distribute diapers and other baby care products to Johnson County families in need.

Did you know 1 out of 3 kids go without diapers daily? There is just no need for that! We can only assume that today's current covid-19 reality has made this matter worse. While volunteerting within our own community I have heard the need for diapers expressed over and over, and many times unable to be met. Even though many families are struggling with finances in this unprecedinented times, no familiy should need to choose between food for their families and providing necessities such as diapers to their children.

Moyra loved our community and and was always willing to work hard for what needed to be done. We are certain she would be proud to that we are hosting a community diaper dive honoring her special day.

The diapers collected are already being distributed throughout the county thanks to our partnerships with JC Interchurch Food Pantry, Franklin Community Schools, Indian Creek Schools, the Better Together Need A Neighbor Program, the Children's Bureau of Johnson County, Michelle's Little Pantry, and Together Johnson County (a coalition of faithbased organizations throughout Johsnson County.)

If you are aware of additional service organizations which would be interested in assisting to distribute diapers to Johnson County families in need, please contact us at moyramccainmemorialfoundation@gmail.com.
