A metal to polysilicon contact is recognisable by its dirty grey colour.
All of the examples of metal contacts in the example above are from metal to polysilicon. In this example, there are other indicators, such as the pink or brown lines leading up to the contact.
It isn't always that obvious from the lines though, such as in the following:
But it is pretty obvious that these contacts are dirty grey rather than white, in fact they look a bit like a nail head.
