CONGRATULATIONS FOLKS....................WONDERFUL EVENT.
Everyone suited up and enjoyed good competition with visitors from the BIG GAME branch David and Steve, who dressed to kill!!
the lunch was superb - usual for our members.
Thank you to everyone who contributed and went to so much trouble with the theme of the appropriate costumes for the era.
El Presidento Scott was the "Overall Winner" - the weather was kind and the H&C mob were stunned/bemused etc.
Back in the era of our type of shooting (pre 1900 mostly) after church attendance on Sunday while everyone was relaxed and still dressed in their "good" clothes people would gather to show off their prowess with their firearms.
After all everyone had a rifle or pistol in those days and had to know how to use them.
To promote our chosen discipline of Blackpowder shooting we thought we would step back in time and dress appropriately for just such an event. So to be eligible for this particular event you must be in pre-1900's dress. Military or civilian, perhaps a 3 piece suit for gentlemen, and a long skirt or dress for the ladies with appropriate style hats etc.
entry is $10 and includes a barbecue lunch.
events are 25m black powder pistol/revolver open class 1,2,3 flint/percussion.
photos soon.
The Monarto Black Powder & Shooting club invite black powder shooters to attend our Inaugural Muzzleloading "Suit Shoot".
This was first thought of as a "Gentleman's shoot" until the other gender within our membership protested.
50m off hand muzzleloading rifle open class 1,2,3 flint/percussion.
breechloading event was added late.
join our little club to enjoy some fun competition and after these set events the range will be open all afternoon for practice.
