Sustainability Note
For Now all MSC's old buildings rely on Natural Gas. Until Xcel Energy no longer derives electricity from Coal or Natural Gas, these are overall the most reliable, safe, cost effective and responsive ovens and stovetops for most cooking purposes. The exception is induction stove-tops that only work with certain pots and pans, or when a much smaller toaster or toaster oven substitutes for a larger oven capacity. We do not know how durable induction stove top would be in MSC use, where there will be abuse by occasionally cluless people, so we hope to add this as an option in the large M-House Kitchen next to the gas stove and oven that will have a stainless range-hood capable of capturing volatile grease & oils to protect the kitchen from frying.
Electronic control panels are no considered reliable because they tend to fail in 7 years rendering the stove useless if the expensive part is no longer available.

K we left gas line ready to connect during Kitchen remodel because Sustainability Director and Manager both believed the ceramic element electric stove would be destroyed within 4 years of Keda use. It lasted a few months before 3 of 4 burners were destroyed as the top surface cracked. Kea reverted to coil resistance electric stove as it previously had because a resident was deluded to think a gas stove is less safe than electric in a house that already has a gas boiler, water heater and dryer. Electric resistance stove coils are cheapest to be repairing & replacing multiple times per year as is trend at Keda, and only at Keda.
