The teacher communicates frequently with families in a culturally sensitive manner, with students contributing to the communication. The teacher responds to family concerns with professional and cultural sensitivity. The teacher’s efforts to engage families in the instructional program are frequent and successful.
This often comes into play when my students are reading novels outside of class. With middle school students, it's important to send home information regarding a reading schedule and the student's responsibilities outside of class. An example of such a schedule is attached below. I was also responsible for completing letters to send home to parents after meetings with the middle school team to recap the strategies composed for their child. This is also attached below.
