Assessment is fully integrated into instruction, through extensive use of formative assessment. Students appear to be aware of, and there is some evidence that they have contributed to, the assessment criteria. Questions and assessments are used regularly to diagnose evidence of learning by individual students. A variety of forms of feedback, from both teacher and peers, is accurate and specific and advances learning. Students self-assess and monitor their own progress. The teacher successfully differentiates instruction to address individual students’ misunderstandings.
Much of this component is addressed with Do Now and closure activities. Every day I assess students' understanding of previous content by asking them to complete a quick activity. From there, I can determine what concepts should be focused on more closely as we move forward. My students are consistently self-assessing and offering feedback to their classmates as well, particularly with writing and group work. I have also attached some lesson activities that were based on some weaknesses that were found as a result of formative assessment (Ch. 6-7 Close Reading Practice, Feedback from Annotated Bibliographies, and Quote Integration Practice).
