Guests are responsible for making sure their rooms have been cleaned thoroughly before leaving. This includes vacuuming their room, emptying the rubbish bin and folding the blankets neatly. If you have used the lodges doona cover and pillow slips during your stay, these must be left clean and dry and ready for use by the next group of people coming in. Any tea towels used also need to be washed before the next group of guests come in.
Generally preference is given to people booking from Saturday to Saturday. If there is a vacancy in the lodge, partial bookings can be made closer to the time in the discretion of the Directors.
You will need to bring your own linen. i.e. towels, pillow cases and sheets. There are single beds and single doonas in the lodge. If you use the pillow slips or doona covers they must be washed and dried before you leave. There are some spare towels for emergencies.
You will also need to bring your own food. There are some supplies in the lodge such as salt/pepper, sugar, flour, alfoil/gladwrap, washing powder, dishwashing liquid, soft as soap etc. There is also a community cupboard where guests leave unwanted items which you are welcome to use.
First person in: You will need to turn the power on. The keys to open the power boxes at the front door are located on the notice board opposite the phone. NOTE - there is 1 switch in EACH power box which needs to be turned on. Please follow the written instructions carefully inside the boxes. If there is no water, the water tap is behind the door when you go down the stairs - be careful when inserting your hand to turn on the tap.
Last person out: You will need to: 1) turn off the power at both power boxes (see First person in above); 2) empty all the fridges, disconnect them from the power points and leave a tea towel in the doors to prop them partly open; 3) clean out all perishables in the community cupboard; 4) lock all the windows and doors; 5) cover the leather lounges with blankets; 6) close the curtains in the dining area; 7) remove all garbage from the Lodge; 8) turn off the water mains tap (see First person in above).
No. There is no television at the lodge, a decision made by the members some time ago reflecting a deliberate choice made by them about the desired ambience in the lodge and encouraging family activities not involving watching TV. There is a stereo system. The overriding principle in using the lodge is that it is a shared community environment - people need to be mindful of other guests at all times but especially when playing music or listening to the radio, whether using this system or using their computers, laptops or other electronic equipment. There is no wifi - people need to made their own arrangements for accessing the internet.
Each week during the winter season the change over time is 10.00 a.m. on Saturday. Incoming guests arriving early are welcome (but only after 7.30am) to leave their luggage in the games room downstairs so it is out of the way of remaining and outgoing guests. After dropping off luggage early, incoming guests must then leave the lodge and may return from 10am. Outgoing guests wanting to ski for the day may also leave their luggage in the games room downstairs and must then pick it up from the lodge later (by 5pm) before departing. Please be considerate of people in the lodge if you are arriving early or leaving late in connection with leaving your luggage in the games room. And be aware that the lodge is cleaned by professional cleaners on Saturdays - please do not interfere with their activities.
