Poor listening skills and difficulty understanding what they read; difficulty
with expressing themselves verbally or on paper.
Inability to process language and create a mental image in order to understand what they are hearing or reading. Many students who struggle with concept imagery go undiagnosed or do not receive the proper intensive remediation. Weak concept imagery can underlie ADHD, Hyperlexia, and those on the Autistic Spectrum.
Symptoms:
•Limited or underused vocabulary
•Relying on memorization rather than deep understanding
•Slow reading in order to try to understand what they are reading
•Poor reading comprehension
•Difficulty following directions
•Poor organization
•Difficulty with mental planning
•Trouble remembering assignments
•Homework takes hours
•Trouble with word problems in math
•Trouble with problem solving and critical thinking
•Difficulty with "cause and effect"
•Trouble staying focused
•Difficulty with social interactions
•Poor language expression

Remediation
I work with students to stimulate specific parts of the brain through intensive intervention. With the right type of remediation students can increase their language comprehension and expression in order to reach their potential.
Improvements in all the described symptoms is the expected outcome.
