What I do
I work virtually and in person with students, most of whom are unique learners and need specific sensory cognitive instruction so they can become independent readers. I work with students of all ages (yes, adults too!) who struggle with reading and/or reading comprehension, and more. I also work with young children teaching them pre-reading skills. I have been doing this for almost 20 years and love it!
Unique Approach
Students usually have problems accessing information because of a differences in their auditory, visual or language processing system. Thus, I work on the challenging area by stimulating that particular part of the brain. I do this with specific and differentiated multisensory stimulation.
The areas that I cover are as follows: phonemic awareness, orthographic processing, and concept imagery as they apply to:
1) Reading Fluency and Spelling
2) Oral and Written Language Comprehension and Expression
3) Organization and Study Skills
6) Spanish
7) English (as an additional language)
8) Pre-reading skills
Many of the students I work with have a learning disability, ranging from Dyslexia to ADHD to Autism and everything in between. Certainly, I also work with students who might just need extra support or gifted students who want to improve upon their already strong skills. I typically service students between the ages of 3 years old to adult.
The environment that I provide for students is not one of a learning center. I do not train inexperienced tutors to work with my students. I personally craft and deliver their own unique curriculum.
