MANDATORY EFILING: Commencing November 15, 2021, all petitions to approve a minor's contract filed in Los Angeles County must be filed electronically through an approved Electronic Filing Service Provider.  See Public Notice and General Order:  EFILINGINFAMILYLAW.pdf (lacourt.org)

The court will sign your order electronically.  Therefore, please file a proposed order along with your petition.  You no longer need to provide hardcopies of the order or a return envelope.

The following statutes and rule were updated on December 28, 2020:  Family Code sections 6750 and 6752 and Local Rule 5.22.

To determine the status of a pending petition or application, you may visit the official web site of the Los Angeles County Superior Court.  Choose "Case Summary" under "Family", and type in the case number. You do not need to choose a filing court.

Effective December 9, 2022, the Honorable Shelley Kaufman is presiding in Dept. 2 as the Supervising Judge of the Family Law Department of the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

The Court is holding bonds for former child actors and recording artists who had contracts approved by the Court approximately 60-70 years ago. Read the list and help locate these individuals. With the invaluable assistance of Paul Petersen, president and founder of A Minor Consideration, bonds were retrieved by 36 former child actors and recording artists since 1995.
