Family trees with photos where available will be on display— we hope that most of us researching the families will be there on the day with lots of information, records, photos and stories.
Much new information is now available with the many resources coming available as old records are digitized - a whole network of researchers around the world has added many new stories to our collection.
William and Eliza Parsons, nee Smith, settled on the North Shore of the Maroochy River at Parsons Bank having emigrated to Queensland on the Merkara in September 1888. William and Eliza had been farming in Somerset England … two of their daughters, Margaret and Pearl, married two of the sons of William and Elizabeth Hooper, who also hailed from Somerset .
David and Jessie Milne, nee Maiden, emigrated to Hobart, Tasmania the Harrowby in 1871 with their younger children. David was a ship’s carpenter and the family had been living in Montrose, Angus in Scotland. Many of their children remained in Tasmania, but George Maiden Milne and his wife, Elizabeth Sinclair, moved to Tintenbar in NSW and later to Queensland. Two of their children , Gertrude and David married children of William and Eliza Parsons.
