Mohammed Rustom is Professor of Islamic Thought and Global Philosophy at Carleton University and Executive Director of the Tokat Institute for Advanced Islamic Studies. An internationally recognized scholar whose writings have been translated into over ten languages, Professor Rustom has published more than fifteen books and one hundred articles in the fields of Islamic philosophy, Arabic and Persian Sufi literature, Quranic studies, contemporary Islamic thought, translation theory, and cross-cultural philosophy. His more recent works include The Essence of Reality (NYU Press, 2023), Inrushes of the Heart: The Sufi Philosophy of ʿAyn al-Quḍāt (SUNY Press, 2023), and A Sourcebook in Global Philosophy (Equinox, 2025). Professor Rustom is also Editor-in-Chief of the journal Islamic Intellectual Traditions (Brill), Editor of Equinox's Global Philosophy series, and General Editor of the Tokat Library of Islamic Classics (SUNY Press).
