The McGill Institute of Islamic Studies Student Council is very excited to announce our keynote speaker for this year's Graduate Symposium, Professor Todd Lawson.
Todd Lawson is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto in the Department of Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations and also teaches at the Centre for Religious Studies as well as the Centre for Jewish Studies. His areas of specialization include Mystical Quranic Exegesis, Islamic Thought, Shi’ism as well as Sufism. His recent publications include Gnostic Apocalypse and Islam: Qur’an, exegesis, messianism, and the literary origins of the Babi Religion, The Crucifixion and the Qur’an: A study in the History of Muslim Thought, as well as Reason and Inspiration in Islam: Theology, Philosophy and Mysticism in Muslim Thought.
