At Midget Gems Childcare we put in a lot of effort and strive to help all the children achieve high outcomes. We bring expertise and value the importance of establishing well planned rich and stimulating learning environments to underpin children's personal development.
Award Winning Midget Gems are proud to announce we have enrolled with an online learning journal to document our pre- school children's stages of development . The key features are :
A complete standalone application with our own web address, with full management functions to control access and communication, for parents and staff, and editorial control over all journals and records.
Online Journals created for each of our children, with full control over who can view and edit them.
Each observation or page can include notes, photographs and EYFS assessments, characteristics of learning and videos. They can be enhanced by comments from staff and parents, and each page appears in a pleasing and coherent way.
Parents can view the complete set of observations as a learning journey, flipping through a single child's observation pages, in time-order, or filtering in flexible ways to access your favourite records. Bookmark s are available for your favourites and quick access.
Convert to PDF for print hardcopies, or download to CD for a keepsake.
Observations can be uploaded in one single process that makes a new entry immediately available.
Each child's journey can have individual accounts set up for parents and relatives to access.
Parents can comment on new entries and even add their own.
Mobile apps allow new entries to be made from iPhones,iPads and Android devices.
Automatic emails generated for parents when new entries are made.
Children develop quickly in the early years and here at Midget Gems it is our aim, with the help of parents, to enable all children to have the best possible start in life.
Research shows that children's development is at it's greatest between birth and five. Therefore, the activities they do are absolutely crucial.
We believe every child should feel good about themselves and have a "can do " attitude which we find helps children to increase their independence in readiness for school.
Our main focus in the years 0-3 are the prime areas of development i.e Personal, Social, Emotional, Physical, Communication and Language. As children approach the foundation stage more specific areas are covered i.e Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding of the World and Expressive Arts and Design.
We believe in "making it real" , letting children try new experiences using their senses rather than using worksheets and pictures.
We strive to ignite children's interests with easy access to books, poetry, music , make believe play and lots of outdoor play , trips and new experiences.
We help them learn new vocabulary, so they can begin to use it in a meaningful way. We spend time engaging in purposeful dialogue with the children.
