We must do all we can to try to remember events, remember what we want to know and cherish them. We also need to understand how our memory works.
There is 3 types on memory, Sensory, Short-term, and Long-term.
Sensory Memory is the storage unit for our senses. Taste, touch, smell, hearing and sight. This type is usually temporary. Very short, maybe a few seconds. Normally this can be easily transferred into long-term memory. Most of use probably remember the smell our grandmothers cookies if she cooked them.
Short-term Memory the best way to described this is when you walk into a room and your going to grab something, but your phone goes off, or your parents say something to you, or your significant other says something, then you completely forget what you where going to grab. This is your short term, you want to hold onto it long enough to accomplish that task that you are preforming but you do not intend on retaining the information.
Long-term Memory is like your computer, you can store information in it forever. It won't go away unless you remove it yourself. This type of memory normally requires effort such as, practice or repetition. Knowing your email address or an order to do tasks in for your job.
There are plenty of strategies to remember something. The trick is finding the strategist you like best and works best for you. When your taking notes you could try these to remember the information.
