Expectations your professor has of you are very important.
Preparation - Be prepared for the class, on the first day it is sort of exceptionable but not entirely. You should already have all the materials you need for your class, pen and paper to take notes are absolutely necessary and you have no excuse why you shouldn't have them. Before each class, read the material that will be discussed about. How are you supposed to know? Your professor gave you a Syllabus, and normally you'll have this before your first day of class. There are exceptions and we all know them. But review the syllabus, actually read what is expected of you.
Expectations of your professor.
Yes, of course you can have expectations of your professor, to a certain degree of course. You want your professor to be clear in the material that they are teaching. If you don't understand a concept, then ask questions like we went of in listening.
