There are all sorts of phrases
Though I can't think of any at the moment,
That are trundled out in the same order,
The syllables delivered as they've always been
And the sense, though recognised,
Diminished because the second thought
Perhaps even quicker than the first
Is that this has been said before,
Or written, so often that
Whatever impact it might first have had
Has become lost in exaggerated recognition
Entailing a confusion of 'should know,
Should recognise, should understand...'
But it's lost, and the coining,
Counterfeited to nonsense, when, when first said,
It had such impact, too.
That was what was embedded after all,
The curse of impact, after all,
Denatured.
