Introduction
This is the 3rd ( and final?) version of the mcjNewCastle poser/daz-compatible prop

The "repair kit" for mcjCastle, which corrects an issue with stair handrails can be found
here https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts7/mcjcastlerepairkita
The second version of the castle is archived here: https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts7/oldnewcastle
History
April 8th 2017 - added missing secret part to the Tower prop, if you already installed the castle you only need to download install MCJNEWCASTLEMISSINGELEMENT.ZIP
March 31st 2017 - added missing stairs part "twirls"
October 16th 2016 - 16:03 Release
Installation
Installing the Castle Prop
The installation package ( .zip ) can be found at the bottom of this page : mcjNewCastleFinal.zip
note: Last minute changes: due to google-sites limits i packaged the prop as 4 zip files,
MCJNEWCASTLEFINAL_NOTEXTURES.ZIP, MCJNEWCASTLEFINAL_TEXTURES_1.ZIP, MCJNEWCASTLEFINAL_TEXTURES_2.ZIP and MCJNEWCASTLEFINAL_TEXTURES_3.ZIP
Unzip it into your Poser content folder
Note: if you downloaded the castle before March 2017, a part of the stairs is missing
so you can download/install the tiny file mcjStairsMissingTwirls.zip
or the whole castle zip
You can recognize a Poser Content folder by the fact it contains a Runtime folder
typically:
C:\program files\daz\studio\content\
or
C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library
once installed the prop will appear in your library in the "Poser Formats" section
props/mcasual
Installing the script to manage your castle
The installation package ( .zip ) can be found at the bottom of this page : MCJNEWCASTLESETUPANDPRESETS.zip
Unzip it into your Daz Studio content folder
typically :
C:\program files\daz\studio\content\
or
C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library
once installed the prop will appear in your library in the "Daz Studio Formats" section
/scripts/mCasual
This package also includes Daz Studio compatible material presets in the folder
/Presets/Materials/mcasual
USE
Loading the Castle and Stair props manually
If the installation went well, the castle and stair prop will be in your content library
in a "Poser Formats" subsection, probably something like MyLibrary/Props/mcasual.
If you are new to Daz Studio, be aware that Daz Studio only sees the folders
which you specified in Edit/Preferences/Content Library/Content Directory Manager.
When you load the mcjNewCastleStair prop, it should appear exactly at the proper location
There's a Floor "Trap" panel and a Ceiling "Trap" panel that needs to be deleted
simply select them with your mouse and hide or delete them.
Using the special script to load and manage your castle
If the installation went well, the script name mcjNewCastleSetup.dsa will be in your content library
typically in MyLibrary/scripts/mcasual.
If you are new to Daz Studio, be aware that Daz Studio only sees the folders
which you specified in Edit/Preferences/Content Library/Content Directory Manager.
You can use the Load/Unload tab to load the whole castle or just parts of it
select the desired item, then click the 'Load' button.
Using the special script to apply materials
A few dozen material and shader presets were installed along with the mcjNewCastleSetup script
To apply a material preset, you need to select an object ( a castle module for example ) and do a File/Merge with a select material preset file.
There's so many props in the castle prop ( dozens of windows, dozens of doors etc etc ) that selecting them is a chore.
So i added the Material/Shader presets tab to mcjNewCastleSetup.
changing wall materials
In the Group Selector drop-down-list, select the "All Walls" item
In the "Material Presets" box, click on the browse... button
select one of the material preset files in the presets/materials/mcasual folder
here you can see i selected the Gold On Perfume-blue material for iRay
Click on the Apply Material Preset button
Note that almost all the materials i gave you are for the walls
But the Group Selector drop-down-list will help you mass-select surfaces, for example, all the door surfaces.
So if you create your own wood texture for a door and save it to disk as a material preset, then you can easily apply it to the dozens of doors.
In case you wonder why i call it "perfume blue" : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXAlCazm3J0
Here is the palette of colors for the wall materials
there's sets for iRay renders, for 3Delight and for OpenGL, they are all in their own folders
there's different colors and bump methods, for the moldings.
here's the iRay perfume blue material with the "GoldMold" moldings
Using the special script to apply shaders
The castle has hundreds (yes hundreds ) of metal surfaces
Using Daz studio's mass-selection method ( select surfaces using color x ) can lead to Daz Studio crashes
But luck has it, you can use mcjNewCastleSetup to perform this task
If you were to do this manually, you would select a surfaces, which would also select the objects owning this surface
then you can do a File/Merge with a select shader preset file.
In the Group Selector drop-down-list, select the "All Metals" item
In the Shader Presets box, click on the browse button and select the iRay Uber Metal - Gold shader
from Daz Studio's bundled iRay shader presets
click on the Apply Shader Preset button and there you have it.
Using the special script to select objects and surfaces
In the Group Selector drop-down-list, select the group of surfaces or objects
ex: select the "All Metals" item
Click on the "Select group nodes"button or the "Select group surfaces and nodes" button
then you would likely use Daz Studio's menus to apply material or shader presets
Using the special script to add window and door hardware
I did not install hinges, door handles and locks because the polygon count would be too high and would overload many PCs.
But we have just what we need to quickly install them
Select a door, a window or a castle module ( click on a wall )
run mcjNewCastleSetup
go in the Windows And Doors tab
Open/Close
if a castle module is selected, using the Open Doors and Close Doors buttons will open/close all the windows and doors for that module
else, only the selected door/window will open/close
Attach Type B door handles
Here, i selected a TypeB door frame,
i clicked the "Attach Handles To Type B Doors" and 4 door handle props were loaded and parented to the 2 doors
If i selected only 1 door, then only that one door would get a handle.
Using the corresponding "Remove" button would remove (delete) the handle props from that/those door(s)
Attach Type A door cremones
Here, i selected a TypeA door frame,
i clicked the "Attach cremones To Type A Doors" button The locking mechanism was loaded parented and positioned
Using the corresponding "Remove" button would remove (delete) the props from that/those door(s)
note that our cremones are a mix between cremones and espagnolettes
Attach handles to attic windows
Here, i selected an attic window frame
i clicked the "Attach handles To Attic windows" button Two small handles were loaded positioned and parented to the 2 windows
Using the corresponding "Remove" button would remove (delete) the props from that/those window(s)
Attach hinges to doors
Here, i selected a door frame
i clicked the "Attach hinges to doors" button
the 6 hinges were added to the 2 doors, quite a complex setup if you did it by hand !
Using the corresponding "Remove" button would remove (delete) the props from that/those door(s)
