Organizers

The idea for the workshop started at the monthly lunch conversations amongst Bernard Lanskey (Pianist and Director, NUS Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music), Bernard Tan (Composer and Director, NUS Centre for Maritime Studies), and Louis Chen (Distinguished Professor, NUS Department of Mathematics)

The original protagonists recruited Elaine Chew (Pianist and Professor of Digital Media, Centre for Digital Music, Queen Mary University of London), who enlisted Gérard Assayag (Director, UMR-STMS: Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique, Centre national de la recherche scientifique, Université Pierre et Marie Curie), to jointly create the program for the workshop.

The local organizing committee consists of Jenny Ang, I-Shyan Tang, Rachel Tang, and Craig de Wilde (Associate Director, Concerts and Events Assistant Director, Associate Dean, and Deputy Director, NUS Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music), Chong Chi Tat (Director, Institute for Mathematical Sciences) and Choi Kwok Pui (Deputy Director, Institute for Mathematical Sciences).

The hosts for the Study Day at Raffles Institution include Ruth Rodrigues (Violinist and Music Elective Program Coordinator), Jasmine Chong (Head of Mathematics (Year 1-4)), and Hoh Chung Shih (Composer, Guqin player, and Lead Teacher).

Papers based on talks at the workshop will be published in an edited volume, for which Jordan B. L. Smith (PhD candidate, QMUL Centre for Digital Music) serves as Publication Chair. The workshop invites poster submissions, and the Poster Chair is Katerina Kosta (Pianist and PhD candidate, QMUL Centre for Digital Music). Luwei Yang (Erhu player and PhD candidate, QMUL Centre for Digital Music) and Janis Sokolovskis (PhD candidate, QMUL Centre for Digital Music) are student helpers assisting the local organizing committee.
