Social Identity
I've published several articles on social identity theory, including a review of the association between self-esteem and discrimination and a recent reformulation of this self-esteem hypothesis.
Working with Milan Milanov, I've reviewed different types of social identification, developed a new measure of social identification, and investigated how identification varies as a function of group type, culture, and attachment style.
Working with Chuma Owuamalam, Russell Spears, and Luca Caricati, I've tested a social identity model of system justification and enaged in debates with system justification theorists.
I've investigated the boundary conditions of the social identity-based "social cure" for mental health problems.
Finally, I've shown how various associations occur in the absence of social identity concerns, including (a) the association between group status and prototypicality and (b) the association between the perceived central tendency and variability of a social group.
