Time Period: 105 B.C. through 404 A.D.Description: Armed men, called Gladiators, were pitted against other armed men, or wild animals. Contestants were usually slaves, criminals, or prisoners of war.
How it was played: Contestants would fight each other or wild animals in an arena, usually to the death. Equipment Gladiators had included armor, a helmet (often decorated with exotic feathers), a sword, a spear, and a shield.
