This summer, when we were living in a village with my mother in law, we went to the tank museum, located near Kubinka, Moscow region. It was an unforgettable adventure.
For a beginning, we did not find the expected landmark on the highway. This tank was moved because of the road renovation. Instead, we met another boy with his grandfather. It turned out that this old man had been a tank trooper in his youth. He told us some interesting facts about several exhibits represented in the museum.
There's a huge collection of military equipment: from the first battle tank to T-80. More recent war machines are in secret. The collection also contains experimental models that exist in a single copy. For example, Object 279 is a tank on four tracks with integrated active armor, which in the later models ceased to be built-in because of practical considerations.
The most interesting exhibit is the German Maus, which is unique. This tank is almost 4 meters tall and weighs almost 200 tons. Its armor thickness is 20 cm.
At the end, my son was climbing on military vehicles standing in the yard. The administration, of course, does not allow children to climb, but it is hard to stop kids.
