What are your favorite restaurants in Portland?

Highly Recommend checking out the "Portland Food Map" - there are too many restaurants to keep up with!

  • Asmara Restaurant - Ethiopian/Eritrean, $10 or less

  • Bar Lola - smaller plates of great food, wine pairing available, try the skate! $15-25

  • Becky's Diner - old breakfast locale, simple foods, old timer hang-out, <$10, great post-call

  • Blue Spoon- farm to table, contemporary cuisine, good for lunch or dinner, $10-15

  • Boda- may be better for Thai, and sleeker, with good drinks

  • Bull Feeney's - good Irish food, especially the shepherd's pie, $15-25

  • Corner Room –Italian for decent price, $10-20

  • Dogfish Café (2 in Portland), specialty sandwiches/wraps, great burger, sweet potato fries $10-15

  • Duck Fat- great little place to grab a sandwich/panini, beer, soup, and fries fried with duck fat $5-10

  • Flatbread- great brick-oven pizza, can call ahead to put your name on the waiting list!

  • The Great Lost Bear- not the best food, but have amazing beer selection $10-15, frequented by residents

  • Green Elephant- good vegetarian, thai food, something for everyone $10-15

  • Gritty McDuff’s (Old Port & Freeport) - pub style foods, good beer (one of the local brewers), $10-20

  • Hot Suppa- the name says it all, $10-$20, just not suppa- more breakfast and lunch, local ingredients

  • J's Oyster - good true Maine atmosphere for out of town guests, a little more costly

  • Lobster Shack at 2 Lights state park- beautiful view, mostly outdoor seating! great for out of town guests, a short drive from Portland, seafood- mostly fried, can bring your own beer/wine $10-20

  • Local 188 - tapas is the specialty, but have other entrees, deelish! $15-25

  • Miyake – Some of the best sushi and noodles anywhere, and very neighborhoody

  • Nara Sushi- I have found to be the best sushi- both the fish and the atmosphere (small and quiet) and udon!

  • Nosh – Duckfat’s biggest rival – fries, sandwiches, wine, beer. A good place to start Art Walk.

  • Novare Res - Belgian Beer Garden off Exchange St, limited food to cold cuts and cheese

  • Otto Pizza–best pizza in Portland, two locations both on Congress, by the slice or whole pie, $5-15

  • Paciarino- Italian, simple menu with a few options on a blackboard and home-made pasta10-$15

  • Portland Lobster Company – mean lobster roll, outdoor seating when warm, live music, $10-15

  • Portland Pie Company- Pizza- sandwiches and wraps good too, $6-15

  • Ribollita- Italian, for more special occasions, $15-25

  • RiRa – Big fat Irish pub with surprisingly good food, good live music, great place to watch any kind of sport

  • Sea Dog (in South Portland) - reasonable cost, good burgers and fish sandwiches (own beer), $10-15

  • Seng Thai I and II, good cheap Thai food $15-20 (Very close to hospital)

  • Siam Square Thai - Westbrook - best Pad Thai in Portland $10

  • Sonny’s – Owned by the Local 188 folks; interesting Latin American cuisine and drinks. On top of Exchange.

  • Street and Company – delicious seafood with an Italian twist. A special occasion place. On Wharf St.

  • Susan’s Fish and Chips - hole in the wall with great food, expect to leave smelling like fried fish $5-10

  • The Snug – Another Irish pub with private booths for getting to know your fellow residents.

  • Vignola – also on Wharf. Excellent northern Italian. Great wine and beer list.
