First, thank you for visiting my site!
Way back in the 'Stone Age', I studied Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, in the days of mainframe operations and CRT terminals with 'mechanical click' keyboards. (And yes, I actually had to take a class that used 80 column card punch machines on the IBM 370 H 125.) I worked many years as a field engineer for various corporations and finally ventured out on my own. I have been installing computer networks, home theaters, and automation systems of all sizes ever since.
In the field of computer networks, I install fiber and CAT-6 networks of all sizes and shapes. There are limitations of 100 meters with most cable runs, so we typically will use fiber with media converters on either end. Another simple solution to a typical expensive problem.
Automation has been a fascination of mine for quite some time. I have engineered large scale industrial PLC automation systems, as well as, the small X-10 home pc automation. Although the smaller scale 'Smart Homes' have been getting better performance with 'Insteon' technology.
And finally home theaters and sound systems. Some of my smaller installations have included the basic 60" LED flat screen with articulating arm inside an armour. Some of the larger venues include a corporate training center with projector and 108" screen. I have since lost track of all the churches, schools, and homes that fall into the 'bell curve' of activities.
I also maintain 2 'blog' sites for the techie folks that follow my work and accomplishments.
The first site is BigSoundBasics.com. On this site, I am constantly searching, studying, and reviewing new products and devices that find their way into the consumer audio/video market. I specifically look for products that are used with recording studios and audio sound mixing boards. It is also a good site to visit and pickup on the 'Basics of getting Big Sound' from audio mixing boards and high-end systems.
The second blog I comment in is my daily thoughts and challenges blog, http://www.empowernetwork.com/freedomteamduane/. This is daily record of little challenges along the way and longer term projects, or serial articles, where I write numerous blogs about 1 particular task or project.
I can be found at FaceBook here https://www.facebook.com/duanermackey.
I usually comment on college sports, politics, and topics of the day (mostly politics).
