SEPTA stands for Special Education PTA. The Lynbrook SEPTA represents a diverse population of students from preschool to high school, their parents, and teachers. These children may be classified students, 504 students, or students in the gifted or talented programs. SEPTA was organized to support, strengthen and promote a greater awareness of special education and to encourage and promote an understanding of student's needs, while striving to develop and implement ways of meeting them.
As an active PTA, SEPTA offers parents help in understanding the special education system. Parents new to special education will benefit greatly from the SEPTA support network. Parents already involved are continually learning new information and are eager to share their extensive knowledge and experience.
SEPTA coordinates parent information presentations led by professionals in the field of special education. Monthly SEPTA General Meetings provide updated information and discussion of issues concerning all of the schools in our district.
