The 2026 LYDEWAY Fly-In/BBQ is planned for saturday 29TH august with sunday 30th as a backup date in case of bad weather. 

ANNUAL FLY-IN/BBQ INFORMATION

Each year we hold a Fly-In BBQ. This evolved back in 2002 when Cathy and I decided to hold an evening BBQ for local residents. Due to its popularity and limited space this fly-in is limited to a maximum of 15 visiting aircraft. As most aircraft do a couple of joyride flights, this results in a total of about 75 movements during the day which keeps me pretty busy in my role operating the A/G radio. 

Only pilots who have been allocated a slot and have a copy of the briefing will be permitted to attend. This is a free event with food and drink provided for pilot and one passenger in exchange for a couple of joyride flights for local residents.

We do have a box for charity donations. The proceeds are shared between the Multiple Sclerosis Society, https://www.parkinsons.org.uk and Help for Heroes . Thanks to everyone's generosity we usually raise about £300 each year. 

On the day aircraft will start arriving from 11am. Food will be served from 1pm.

Finally John Reed kindly forwarded me these last two photos. One was taken at a recent fly-in and the other back in 1957. Some of the aircraft might have changed but the spirit of grass trip flying continues on.
