Your County Councillor

Over the years I have been glad to help with a range of projects using some of the delegated fund that we allocate to councillors to use in their areas.

There are certain conditions, including any project must involve capital work - in other words for things rather than running costs - and the usual range for an award is around £2000 - £4000.

So please get in touch if you think I might be able to help. And as usual please let me know if I can help with any County Council issues.

Longhorsley Village Hall AGM

The AGM for the Longhorsley Village Hall is to be held in the Village Hall on Wednesday 15th October starting at 7pm.

Members of the community are welcome to attend and can raise any points they may have with the committee.

An agenda will be produced and will be displayed on the village notice boards prior to the meeting.

Longhorsley Parish Council

The next Parish Council meeting will be held on Wednesday, 8th October in the Village Hall, starting at 7pm, with a parishioner slot at 8pm. Meeting notices are displayed on village notice boards, with minutes and other information found on the Parish Council website.

Jobs for the Autumn – Reminder to all Residents

At the end of the nesting season is a good time to carry out all of those jobs that have been put off during the summer months, such as trimming hedges, trees and shrubs to prevent them overhanging and blocking pathways etc. It is a legal requirement for all overhanging items onto a public space to be cut back.

Dog Fouling 

A letter has been circulated with this months edition of the Tree. Please continue to log any dog fouling you find on Fixmystreet. The Parish Council will be installing numerous signs over the coming weeks reminding of the importance to bin and bag it and that prosecution can occur with a maximum fine of £1000.

With energy, water and broadband bills on the rise, it’s getting increasingly difficult for many people to cover their expenses. It’s important to know you’re not alone in finding things difficult and that financial support might be available to help ease the burden. You can check the Citizens Advice website for information on what benefits you might be eligible for, ways to reduce outgoings, and how to create a budget and prioritise bills.

If you’re finding it difficult to stay on top of bills, budgeting tools like the one on the MoneyHelper website can be very useful in helping you understand what money you have coming in and going out each month.

Funds for our Village School, which won't cost you anything!

We’re excited to let you know that the PTA have now registered Longhorsley St Helen’s with Easyfundraising – a simple, free way to raise money every time you shop online.

Here’s how it works:

      1.    Download the Easyfundraising app (or visit their www.easyfundraising.org.uk) .

      2.    Choose our school Longhorsley as your cause.

      3.    Shop online as normal with over 8,000 retailers (including supermarkets, travel sites, clothing and more).

      4.    Each time you shop, a percentage of your spend is donated to our school – at no extra cost to you!

It takes just a couple of minutes to set up, but it makes a big difference to the funds we can put towards our fundraising efforts this year.

Mobile Library Visiting Times

The Mobile Library visits Longhorsley once every 3 weeks, on Fridays between 15.55pm and 16.35pm, in the Village Hall car park.

Unfortunately due to the Mobile Van being withdrawn from service, we are currently operating from a transit van.

The next visits are on the 3rd and 24th October and 14th November.
